Looking Lofty Heights Dead in the Eye

Tonight I kick off the training. I’m going to really try to keep this schedule this time, and I think I have the cooperation and support to do so.

Monday 05:30, Strength Training
Monday 17:30, Interval/Hill Riding
Tuesday 17:30, Interval/Hill Riding
Wednesday 05:30, Strength Training
Thursday 17:30, Interval/Hill Riding
Friday 05:30, Strength Training
Saturday 09:00, Endurance Riding
Sunday 09:00, Recovery Ride

It’s pretty ambitious, I know, but I absolutely have to catch back up with my friends and my brother. They’ve all kept it up over the summer, and the only way to get back into the game is to hit it hard, at least for the immediate future.

This is also in preparation for the aforementioned Triple Bypass ride in Colorado next July. While I am willing to admit that it may be too much too soon, even after 10 months, I’m not willing to lay down and give up before I even start. 11,000ft is high, the air is pretty thin up there, and I have no illusions that it will be tough. In the end, you don’t get better by setting your sights low. It’s on the edge that you really find out who you are and what you can do.
