Morning Commute of Glorious Tailwinds

After Saturday’s tortuous winds, I expected the same southerly winds this morning. I mean, why wouldn’t Kansas deliver southerly headwinds in the morning, followed by northerly headwinds in the evening? After all, it’s been consistent in it’s gift giving so far this year. It’s a stroke of brilliant good fortune that I live north of work, meaning I travel south in the morning, and north in the evening.

This morning, however, I was the fortunate recipient of stiff and unyielding ! Glorious, refreshing, and inspiring rushed down from Nebraska to speed me on to work in near record time! Unfortunately, these same winds brought cooler air with them, turning the 73°F day on Saturday into a 32°F morning today. I’m not entirely disappointed, however, because with the cooler air came a great thunderstorm last night. Perhaps not great by Kansas standards, but it’s been a while since we had any thunder, so even a little was welcome.

Aside from the (which will likely remain northerly, meaning I’ll head straight into them on the way home tonight), it was an uneventful ride in. The brakes performed flawlessly, and it felt great to be back on the saddle again.
