Evening Commute

Snow! Snow snow snow snow snow! Snow!

I now consider myself officially a bike commuter. If I can ride today, I can ride pert near anytime (hurricane force wind notwithstanding). Inclement weather, that is to say, blinding snow, stinging sleet, puddles galore, slush, snow both packed and fluffy and cars that throw all of the above on me as they pass makes for a – call me insane – fantastic ride!! The ONLY thing I would change about the ride home today is having thrown my chain off the granny cog. That sucked, but only for a little bit. After that was fixed, all was gorgeous again!

Of course, because of the weather, and the fact that the sleet was hitting my face so hard I could barely see, I had to take it pretty easy. There was no tearing down the hills today, no flailing on the hammer ring. It was a slow and easy, upright around the turns, just make it home safe kinda day. Still, even so, it stands as one of my most enjoyable commutes thus far.

    • :) I know it! I didn’t end up riding this morning, honestly b/c part of me wondered what the point of it was… it’s pretty decent weather out today, the chill notwithstanding. About halfway to work though, I really wished I would have ridden. The fog was gorgeous, and being out in it would have been fantastic. As it was, I was stuck in the box that is my car, isolated, but not necessarily protected, from the outside world.
