So it’s still raining out… a bit harder today than yesterday, which is just fine by me. I do like the rain, after all. Just got a call about another interview. I have to say, having a recruiter call me from home about a position that’s a direct hire position does impress me. It’ll happen sometime on Monday afternoon… exact time undecided as of now. On Tuesday I have a phone interview with a local giant. I’m not that sure about the position in that I don’t think I’m qualified, but it can’t hurt to get the experience. Then there’s the face-to-face interview on the 10th. This will be the third interview, with the first two being phone interviews. I’m pretty excited about that one.

It’s been raining steady now for three days. I love the rain. I really do. I love hard and fast thunderstorms with 120mph straight line winds and thunder and lightning that rattle the windows and doors nearly out of their holes. I love long slow rains that just go about their merry way steadily and without any sign of slowing, much less stopping. It’s relaxing to me… I find no small amount of comfort and serenity in the rain… I just need to get my deck built, and a covered swing so I can sit outside in it… all cool, with it’s wonderful smells. When it does stop, I’m always a little disappointed. Were it not for the risk of flash floods, I’d be happy with it raining nearly all the time. Also, there’s the cycling. It’s tough to ride in the rain when I’m worried about washing out the bearings. Oh, and the dogs get really muddy in the back yard (but that’s a function of the yard, not the rain). Aside from those three things, I really do love the rain… I’d be perfectly OK with it raining for the next three days… and then beyond that.

Squanto, most likely in no small part due to the serious painkillers he’s on, is more energetic and sprightly than I’ve seen him in years. He’s eating, pooping, and generally being the dog he’s always been.

For the first time it what seems like forever, we actually have a pretty full docket for the weekend. Friday is going to be a house party of sorts to celebrate the visit of a friend from Wichita. Saturday afternoon will see me/us meeting up with Lydia for an afternoon of catching up and wit-sharpening. Saturday night is Margaritas at another friend’s house to celebrate a new chapter in her life. Sunday is… well… recovery and possibly healthy bike riding.

Squanto is much more spry today than I’ve seen him in a long time. Apparently, those pain killers are doing the job…

I had to take Squanto to the vet today. I woke up to a pretty good sized mess in the entry way (fortunately… linoleum w/o any carpet), and a dog that couldn’t, or wouldn’t walk. Instead, he just lay there and panted very heavily. I watched him for a couple of hours and things didn’t get any better.

Well, the Turkish Coffee trip was a bit of a bust. The coffee… the whole reason we made the trip to begin with (aside from the actual spending time together bit) really wasn’t all that great. It was a bit bitter, and while I enjoy the spices added to the grinds, my friend did not. Even the Z’s coffee on the way out of town was crappy. Oh well… we’ll just keep looking around local for something better. At least the hummus was stellar… that made up for it a bit.

Today, this morning, in fact, I’m meeting up with a friend of mine from Lees Summit to have coffee in Lawrence at Aladdin’s Cafe. Why travel so far, you may be asking yourself? Well, fact is, I don’t know of any places in KC to get really good Turkish Coffee, and what I had at Aladdin’s Cafe was, in my opinion, phenomenal.

So, over the last three years, my AC has been decreasingly efficient. For those that know me well, that which is not efficient is a Bad Thing(tm). Add that general anti-inefficient sentiment to the fact that it’s just damn hot in the house these days, and that there is a recipe for discontent.

Had a good interview today over the phone. There is a followup with the higher-ups on Tuesday next week. I expect that one to go well also. This one seems to be a real opportunity, not just a job. I’d be flexing muscles I’ve not used in a while, and certainly expanding my skills and experience. Who knows… we’ll see how it goes. Wish me luck, either way!
